Picking up the phone to answer a call from Brian Wendel, creator of the world-famous Forks Over Knives movie and book of the same title, is always an exciting event.
Brian was calling to talk with me about the NEW Forks Over Knives book, The Forks Over Knives Plan – A 4 Week Meal-by-Meal Makeover.
The upshot of our conversation? We’ll be doing a giveaway for the new Forks Over Knives book right here quite soon. The Forks Over Knives team is rushing me a copy of the book, and once I get a chance to take a look I can tell you all about it – and create the book giveaway!
Stay tuned…
Healthy Taste of Sacramento Event was a hit!
With so many great snapshots to tell the story, I’ll let them take center stage.
Speaking of which – I was more than happy to be first on the day’s speaking itinerary.
The famous “this is plant-based in your 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s” shot! With my friends Linda Middlesworth (left) and Chef Aj.
Healthy Taste of Sacramento sold out weeks in advance – over 250 enthusiastic participants.
Dr. John McDougall was the keynote speaker. Only Chef Aj could get the good doc to giggle like this as she adjusted his microphone.
Dr. Richard Oppenlander, author of Food Choice and Sustainability, was onstage after me – and left to a standing ovation. His book is a must-read and is referenced in my next book, The Plant-Based Journey.
Real men prepare plants! Chef Ramses Bravo prepared our breakfast and lunch – and did a smashing cooking demonstration onstage as well.
Feeding 250! Potatoes, hummus, cabbage pineapple salad and fig bars.
Several Fit Quickies breaks were sprinkled in throughout the day to keep us vitalized! Can you guess which we’re learning here? You guessed it – “7 Seconds to a Flat Belly”, Fit Quickie #1!
An edible and entertaining highlight of the day came with Miyoko Schinner’s Cashew – Stuffed Figs – being prepared here behind the scenes in the kitchen.
Yay! My darling husband Greg was with me at Healthy Taste of Sacramento! Who do you think took most of these pictures? Thank you Greg!
Event emcee Chef Aj presented a touching tribute to Dave Middlesworth. Not a dry eye in the house!
Can’t wait until next time! Of course there’s always Healthy Taste of LA, coming up November 2. Hmmm…..
Great pictures, everyone, including you, looks so healthy and vibrant! Thanks for the inspiration!!
