I don’t recall if I ever told you about the first time I met John Robbins. It was at a large event and he was scheduled as one of the headline speakers, along with Dr. Dean Ornish and a list of other plant-based diet dignitaries. But between you and me, everyone knew that John was the key attraction.
So many people – perhaps you are one of them – first came to this journey after reading John’s book, Diet For A New America, or one of the others that followed. He is an icon of the conscious eating movement.
John and I were conversing prior to his scheduled presentation, and quickly our conversation had turned to the value of movement and fitness as part of a satisfying, energized, brilliant lifestyle. Without skipping a beat, he invited me to take the first five minutes or so of his speaking time to energize and inspire the crowd with the move-your-body message.
Humbled and astonished, I of course quickly said yes. As it turned out, the speaker scheduled before John ran overtime and he was advised to squeeze his presentation into a shorter hour than previously planned. Of course I quickly did the honorable thing and stepped aside from his lovely offer out of respect for the situation.
Starting with that first meeting several years ago, John has been extremely kind and generous to me – and continues to be so with his enthusiastic support of my second book The Plant-Based Journey. As you can imagine, having John’s endorsement comments shining on the cover of my first book Fit Quickies is a thrill that never wears off.
John and I have a meeting of minds on a long list of issues when it comes to what we eat – and I wholeheartedly concur with him when he says” you can’t afford to sit back and trust government or the food industry to keep you safe!” So when I heard about this spring’s Food Revolution Summit, hosted by John and his son Ocean, I wanted to let you know about it right away.
The Food Revolution Summit
John is interviewing Dr. Jane Goodall, Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Neal Barnard, T. Colin Campbell, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Brenda Davis R.D., Woody Harrelson, Vani Hari, Alicia Silverstone, Andrew Kimbrell, Dr. Mark Hyman, and at least a dozen more ‘real food’ leaders. Whether you agree with all of the presenters or not, you’ve got to admit it’s a compelling lineup. You can listen in for free to get urgent insights on topics like GMOs, the collapse of bee colonies, the real meaning of words like “organic” and “natural”, and how to protect yourself from toxic chemicals that should never have been approved. I snagged an image from the event page that tells you more:
